V. Ravichandran
The dream merchant of Kannada cinema, trailblazer V Ravichandran on reaching 50 next year is introducing his son Manoranjan as hero to Kannada filmdom. The boss of ‘Love and Romance’ on screen has put in two and half decades of fruitful service in the cinema industry. Think cinema, breath cinema and sleep cinema is what V Ravichandran – he is what Raj Kapoor to Hindi cinema. “I am eyeing on materi...alizing his Rs.250 crores dreams that are in the script format”.
An uncompromising iconoclast demolished all accepted norms of film making to walk straight in to the hearts of the millions in their own idiom and their mental make up. Ravichandran has evolved his own style of film making. Nobody thought he could be a star but he became an actor and his greatest contribution to Kannada cinema industry is revolution in film music. His first directorial venture ‘Prema Loka’ which he also produced and acted baffled traditional. It was the first real musical film in the language disclosing the makings of a very unusual director in him. His obsession with the spectacular and the unusual has often been at the cost of the story content of his films. Ravichandran has remained the lovable maverick.
